Etsy sticker shop closed

I`m very sorry to announce that my Etsy Sticker Shop "StickersSwissMade" will be closed as of 19Apr 2026.

Several reasons have led to this decision:

1. Corona time

it all started with Corona, international shipping was not possible anymore and orders never picked up afterwards.

​

2. Introductions of tariffs to the US

Through a very erratic behavior of a certain US president who introduced tariffs in April 2025 for any imported goods to the States, my sticker sheets went up in price.

Only these tariffs would have been manageable but in addition these tariffs would need to be paid at time of buying (Delivered Duty Paid, DDP). Swiss Post is handling this process but only with a fee.

3. no de minimis anymore for USA

not only tariffs but USA has stopped the exemptions for goods under a certain threshold, the de minimis procedure does not exist anymore. Therefore any duties would need to be paid, even for a sticker sheet worth USD 3.

==> any buyer from the US would need to pay about USD 20 for shipping, DDP, duties and fees for a sticker sheet of USD 3!

4. Europe shipping

In the EU (where Switzerland is not part of) a similar process will be started. The EU, as many other countries, has the problem that more and more people are ordering from China and postal systems are being flooded with packages from China.

The EU will now introduce a fee per package of EUR 3 which is imported into the EU, which is about USD 3, even for a small envelope with a sticker sheet, which is worth USD 3. So the price will be doubled for a sticker sheet.

As Switzerland is not in the EU any shipment from my shop will be imported and is subject to this fee.

In addition they will stop de minimis as of 2028.

In the end I`m not able to ship to my two biggest buyer markets. the US and the EU, anymore. Because, honestly, who wants to pay USD 20 or more for shipping/duties/fees for a sticker sheet worth USD 3?

I wouldn`t do it and I guess a lot of other people wouldn`t do it either. They rather turn around and order in China, sticker sheet cheaper, postal charges cheaper, win, win.

I have never ordered from certain China shops, I always check on the prices and if an item has a price which is too good to believe, I always check where the seller is located and where the item is coming from. And when I see China, well, I do not order. Especially knowing that small shops, such as mine, are being undermined by them.

Therefore, after 11 years on Etsy, my sticker shop will be closed.
